How can I predict the future body type (what it will look like) of a Doberman Pinscher puppy?
I will be adopting a Doberman Pinscher puppy and I have looked at many, many pictures of this breed. I have found that, depending on the dog, the body type of this breed seems to fluctuate. I love the Doberman Pinschers whose bodies are sleek and muscular, and whose heads are proportionately sized. However, I have also seen Doberman Pinschers whose look I did not like. Their legs and body seemed very thick and wide, and their heads seemed very small. Is there any way I can choose a dog whose future body type will fit the criteria I'm looking for?

most breeders have the parents on site, just look at the parents. and also reputable breeders will have the whole family tree and all those papers with them, ask to see them and make sure the dog is purebred. that way there’s a higher chance you’ll get what you want.

or better yet!! you can adopt a doberman from a shelter nearby and that way you’ll also be saving a life and you’ll know what you’re getting AND you won’t have to go through the agony of potty-training a puppy :)

also, i hate to say this because i am assuming… but umm you shouldn’t pick a dog mainly because of the way it looks… dobermans require a lot of exercise and training.. you should really study the breed you are looking into before you buy a pup

OMG don’t buy the Doberman photo you posted second.. That’s an awful Doberman.
The first one you can’t see her at all to see what she looks like.. Laying down you can only see a Doberman laying down..
The 2nd dog.. I don’t like her at all… She’s young but she is very long in body.

You can get a fairly good idea what they are going to look like as adults when you see them as puppies.. It’s not guaranteed but you can get a pretty good idea. How old are the puppies you are going to see?

Read the Doberman standard.. Maybe you are thinking that certain dogs you like fit the standard, and that’s what a Doberman should look like?

It all depends on what the parents look like. If you are getting the dog from a good breeder ask to see both parents and talk to them about what you want in a dog.

when buying a puppy, try to look at the parents, it give you a rough idea of wat he will grow up to be.

I can’t open the first link but the second is a poor quality, poorly proportioned, weedy Dobermann.
I suspect you want a slighter elegant b1tch but more like this one?

Type does vary from country to country & decade to decade. Sometimes larger, stockier ones are fashionable, sometimes more elegance is looked for.

You select a puppy based on parentage & rearing. Chunky parents will probably produce chunky puppies, weedy produces weedy.
You need to study the pedigree and learn what is behind any proposed litter as sometimes past types will come out.

Go to shows and see which dogs and kennels are producing the style you want. When you find the type you like in the flesh rather than in photos you can choose a breeder.
